When we stopped and talked to these two gentlemen outside of Stan & Joe’s Saloon on West Street they both kind of joked how cool it was to be bouncers for breakfast, something that neither of them had ever even heard of before. Stan & Joe’s Saloon opened at 9 AM and was serving up an Irish Breakfast to their customers who came by that morning who might also be looking for something other than coffee to drink.

First of all we want to say just what a great bartender and server Nicki, here at the Castlebay Irish Pub on Main Street, was on St. Patrick’s Day morning. We watched Nicki making cream in a big bowl as she took care of all of us sitting at the bar while fielding drink orders from the waiters and waitresses. She never lost her stride and it was nice hearing her pleasant Irish accent as she brought us another Guinness to enjoy with our breakfast.

Of course what would a celebration in Annapolis be without people enjoying themselves on the water. This lady and her partner were making the rounds along Ego Alley and she marked the holiday by wearing her festive Irish headband.

As we walked through the crowded sidewalks of downtown it seemed that the camera in my hand was a standing invitation for people to ask “hey take our picture” which was the case here. This group of friends, including the lady who was camera shy, posed for me as they waited to get into the Middleton Tavern during the afternoon. Heck one of them insisted that she look at the picture that I took of them.

During my time on Dock Street that afternoon I saw some really interesting things going on around me but this was one of the two most romantic moments that I saw that day. These two folks, in front of Armadillo’s Bar & Grill, all of a sudden just grabbed each other as I stood in front of them and began to slow dance. Heck I know that they did not even see my camera which was behind my back at the time.

These friendly individuals insisted that I take their picture as they posed with the Annapolis Cigar Company Indian with his St. Patrick’s Day hat on. To be honest with you I think that they had a bit of the Irish Nectar in them even before we met that afternoon.

The boat Tranquility was docked at Ego Alley throughout St. Patrick’s Day and later in the afternoon, as I made my third trip through the area, I came across these people enjoying an afternoon beer together almost indifferent to the big crowds moving around the dock area.

Ah yes here is the other romantic moment of the day that I came across. These two people were doing something between embracing and slow dancing at the end of the City Dock late in the afternoon once again oblivious to the crowds walking around them.

By the early evening some of the crowd was beginning to make their way out of the downtown area which is when I came across these three people walking along Main Street and talking about their day while seemingly ready to call it quits here on St. Patrick’s Day.

This gentleman only seemed to want to sit along side Ego Alley and watch the crowds after his long day of Irish like revelry. By the time I came across him I too felt like sitting down next to him and just watch the crowds instead of continuing to be part of them because I was a bit spent after this long day.

As is only right I wanted to end this blog post with a picture of one of the many bar and restaurant associates who worked throughout the day serving the crowds of people who came to Annapolis Saturday. Most of these folks did not have an opportunity to take part in the day’s celebrations and from what I heard in talking to some of them they were just looking forward to going home and relaxing. This waiter posed for me in front of Cafe Normandie on Main Street where he works as we talked about the reaction of people to his St. Patrick’s Day tie being worn here at a French restaurant. Again thank you to everyone who worked that day taking care of the many visitors and quests who came to Annapolis to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – from the dishwashers to the servers and the cooks each of you made the Annapolis bars and restaurants a St. Patrick’s Day success!

This concludes our blog post of people celebrating St. Patrick’s Day 2012 in Annapolis Maryland and we would also like to say that we had a great time meeting along with talking to everyone throughout the day.  Also a special thank you goes out to Mr. Vince, Nicki and Tevis at the Castlebay Irish Pub for getting our own St. Patrick’s Day celebrations off to a great start.
