The rain was coming down fairly steady throughout the course of the morning, which in turn made for a convenient opportunity to find a bit of solace inside, unless of course one happens to have a yen for taking photographs in Annapolis regardless of the weather, like myself.

So weather aside I set off for a walk along the streets of the Historic District pretty much unsure as to my prospective subject of the day to photograph, yet determined to do so none the less. After an hour or so I found myself pausing outside the brick side extension, or wing if you would, of a corner c1875 Victorian influenced Federal style house. It was while standing there that I found myself taken with the assortment of period colors having been used on both the window shutters and the door, as well as on the small porch.

The hue of the porch appeared to be more of a medium to dark lavender, as opposed to plum or purple, at least in my eyes that is, while at the same time fairly indicative of the late 19th century Victorian color pallet. In addition the teal like color of the window shutters also appeared quite complimentary of the same period.

As an aside the golden oval pattern projected downward from the porch lantern next to the door is for the life of me a bit strange as to how it came about so let me attribute it to how the camera interpreted it at the time.

Oh yes don’t forget your umbrella if are venturing outside today,

Glenn
