A Plethora of Weathered Wooden Shakes

While I am an admirer of period townhouses sided with wooden shakes I would have much preferred to have photographed this circa 1875 one against a sunnier backdrop. Alas though the weather in Annapolis so far today has chosen not to be very cooperative in that respect.

In any event I stopped for a few minutes in front of it during my daily walk so as to take in the weathered wooden shake siding on its Victorian influenced 19th century facade, as well as those adorning its faux Mansard roof.

As an aside I could not help but also take note of the similar period – c1880, although Federal style front door on the adjacent house. The inclusion of the neighboring door seemed to have made things, as a Facebook friend of mine commented of late, just a “little different” in the composition of today’s photograph.

Rest assured that the sun will be returning tomorrow for an extended stay,

Glenn
