Light Traffic on Ego Alley

Mallard Duck Seemingly Unfazed by a Passing Kayak in the Morning Annapolis Maryland June 16th 2017

I must say that I have never been able to get this close to a Mallard Duck while kayaking down Ego Alley here in Annapolis before our unplanned earlier meetup. Yes I know that others have been able to entice certain resident ducks to come fairly close by offering up scraps of food, people kind not duck kind, which itself is not a healthy thing for the ducks.

In any event without a female of the species in sight this lone male appeared relatively indifferent to my nearby presence, although I do admit to having stopped paddling prior to our close encounter and sort of drifted about on the water along side of him for a few minutes.

Eventually he turned to port and I to starboard so as to make my way back up the the “alley” in order to meet a friend paddling their way over from Spa Creek, and the duck well I didn’t know what his plans for the rest of the morning were.

Have a good weekend,

Glenn
