Sunday Historic District Streetscape

An Inviting Front Porch Set in the Midday Shade of the Annapolis Maryland Historic District June 25th 2017

After a challenging Saturday spent on the Chesapeake Bay sailing to Kent Island and back, along with experiencing fairly windy conditions along the way, it was nice being able to get in a little photography time walking the streets of the Annapolis Historic District on this pleasant Sunday afternoon.

While I had a particular scenic venue that I wanted to checkout at the time it seems that a neighboring house is in the process of an extensive interior renovation so there was what looked like to be a three cubic yard roll off open top set along the curb obscuring my planned setting. Being only a minor set back I made my way up the street and turned north in the direction of Duke of Gloucester Street. Soon afterwards I passed by the front porch of this 1880s Vernacular style frame house with its distinctive German siding. Even though the temperatures felt to be in the low 80s the shaded porch setting appeared quite inviting indeed.

In any case glancing up the street I caught sight of a South Carolina state flag with its distinctive images of a palmetto tree and crescent moon hanging over the sidewalk. At that point the streetscape itself seemed to come together so with a snap of the shutter release I was back on my way to Duke of Gloucester Street so as to meet a friend for a late lunch on Main Street. I think that I’m going for the Ruben sandwich and lemonade today.

Hopefully you too are out enjoying this beautiful day,

Glenn
